Residents near the London home of the late pop star George Michael’s home have reportedly called for a garden shrine laid in his memory to be cleared as it is spoiling the area.

The memorial which, lies on a patch of grass owned by the late singer’s estate in Highgate, is filled with photographs, messages, flowers and other memorabilia.

Fans are still turning up to lay gifts and flags, a year after his death.

The shrine has been in place since just after the singer's death on December 25, 2016.

The local conservation committee has described it as a "terrible mess."
