Jepeto the senior rescue Mini Pinscher

Gouves Animal Shelter, Crete, Greece received a call about a frail old dog that had been found laying under a car for days. He was rescued in October 2016 and taken straight to a vet. He had no fur, he was weak, anemic, starving, dehydrated, arthritic to name a few of his problems. The kind vet lady did some blood tests and despite his age and problems his internal organ function was fine thankfully so she asked for someone to foster him and give him a chance. One of the volunteers from Gouves Animal Shelter fell in love with him and decided to foster him for his potentially last few months of his life. He was immediately put on medication for everything, special food, medicated baths, salmon oil in his food. Eventually he was well enough to have some old bad teeth removed (6 in total) which made him feel much better. After a few months the volunteer from the shelter and her husband decided that he was already happy and settled where he was, so in March 2017 they decided to adopt him. The rest is history. Whilst the shelter and the adopters appreciate he won't last forever, at least he is happy and loved more than anything now, and he even has his own pack of rescue dogs plus one cat to call his own family. Senior dogs are amazing, they have so much love to give and our shelter would encourage people to think about adopting one.
