This is the amusing moment a Brit who was visiting Swaziland earlier this month attempted to learn a simple phrase in Xhosa.

George struggles horribly with the clicks and his teacher Bongani has to step in to show how it's done.

He then explains in English that the phrase means: "I met a beautiful lady wearing some high stilettos."

Languages incorporating clicks may sound unusual to some ears but there are in fact dozens of languages in Africa which use these vocalisations.

Although learning a second language is now considered difficult in some parts of the West, the majority of the world's population is in fact bilingual or multilingual.
