US President Donald Trump has tweeted about this weekend's protests in the UK over the future of the National Health Service, claiming them as proof that support for universal healthcare stateside would produce “really bad medical care.”

Thousands turned out for the march in London on Saturday, which was against privatisation and cuts to NHS funding.

In the video, protesters chant and hold placards and give their reaction to the current state of the NHS.

Trump tweeted today: "The Democrats are pushing for Universal HealthCare while thousands of people are marching in the UK because their U system is going broke and not working. Dems want to greatly raise taxes for really bad and non-personal medical care. No thanks!"

UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt claimed in response: "I may disagree with claims made on that march but not ONE of them wants to live in a system where 28 million people have no cover."
