When trying to get to our friends house in Crosby Ravensworth, The Lake District, we had to abandon our car in the near village of Shap as the road was impassable for cars. When trying to figure out what to do our friends had the brilliant suggestion of walking the 3 miles down the road. The snow had stopped and people were playfully climbing hills with sledges in tow, so we thought fuck it, it will be easy. It was not. My mum is 66 today. For a while I thought my gift to her was an early death...
The winds on the top of the hills were so strong that the snow blew across the road in blizzard like conditions. Never seen anything like it in England.
