A video has emerged of chaotic scenes at the Manchester Corn Exchange at the weekend as frantic shoppers tried to take advantage of a fire sale.

Eager bargain hunters could be seen tearing TVs from walls, arguing with each other over products, and racing around trying to snap up heavily discounted goods.

Police were forced to shut down the event.

According to local reports, about a thousand people turned up at the now disused shopping centre to buy reduced items.

Some shoppers queued for more than 11 hours as all products and even fittings were sold for as little as £10.

All money raised from the sale will go to charity.
