Tragic moments at the end of a high-speed chase as California Highway Patrol approach suspect sitting inside his car, after being pulled over on Southbound 405 Freeway in Hawthorne.

The video, which was shot on April 12, shows the last moments as the police approach the suspect.

"I was able to pull up on the side of the freeway off-ramp to get a better and closer look at the scene and was able to film the suspect get into the back seat. I literally made eye contact with the suspect," the filmer explained.

"He began to pull out his pipe and lighter and began to start smoking. The California Highway Patrol officers started to shoot through the windows but did not hit the suspect. The California Highway Patrol then sent in the K9 to attack the suspect and California Highway Patrol was able to pull the suspect out of the car and put him in custody," the filmer concluded.

High-speed chase on 405 comes to an end and I got a front row seat

I was driving down the 405 freeway and The suspect flew right by me. I started to film as this was my first time seeing a high speed pursuit in person. I was luckily behind the chp as they were following the suspect and once the chp officer was able to do the pit maneuver on him, the pursuit quickly came to a stop and i was able to get a closer look. I was able to pull up on the side of the freeway off-ramp to get a better and closer look at the scene and was able to film the suspect get into the back seat. The chp then sent in the K9 to attack the suspect and chp was able to pull the suspect out of the car and put him in custody.
