Around 100 residents of an east London tower block were forced to flee in the early hours of this morning (April 16) after a fire broke out.

Fire filmed from the ground by a resident that evacuated shows the blaze coming from the 17th floor.

The filmer wrote online: "Me, wife and our four kids walked down the stairs from the 16th floor."

In a statement, London Fire Brigade said: "Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a flat in Leather Gardens, Stratford.

"A flat on the 17th floor was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries. Around 100 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade."
