This is the terrifying moment a flying rebar impaled into the windscreen of a car on a motorway.

The dashcam video, filmed in Huzhou City in eastern China's Zhejiang Province on April 11, shows a flying rebar appearing out of nowhere and hitting a car moving on a motorway at dark night.

The car driver stopped on the side of the road to call the police immediately and then drove to the nearest tollgate to wait.

According to local media, the 1.4-metre-long rebar dropped from a semitrailer driving at the front of the car.

Nearly half of the rebar impaled into the passenger seat from the windscreen.

Since there was only one driver in the car when the incident happened, no casualties were reported.
