Polar Bear sniffs GoPro

Buy video

My wife Jess and I were sailing our little 29-foot wooden junk-rig sailboat through the Northwest Passage over the top of Canada and Alaska and stopped at Barter Island. Here we saw many polar bears and wanting some closer footage, I put my GoPro on a float at let it drift ashore while I stayed back in the dingy with the camera tied to a fishing line and waited. Eventually a bear saw it and walked right up to it and started mouthing and playing with it. After about 15 minutes of what would have been amazing footage he left it alone and I got it back, only to find that the bear had managed to turn the camera off on the first bite! Still cool footage.
