A man was enjoying a dive off the Maldives when he found a turtle struggling with its hind leg entangled in a fishing net.

The footage, captured in Dhuvaafaru on April 10, shows HoHo de Farouq freeing the turtle from the net.

The turtle then swims away into the depth of the ocean.

The filmer later wrote online: "It was sad I had to witness a poor turtle stuck in a net.

‘’Plastic pollution is a huge problem but we all can help. Reuse, refuse or recycle so that it does not end up in our ocean.

‘’Just imagine the number of turtles that might not be as lucky as this one.’’

On a daily afternoon snorkel around one of the beautiful islands recently in Raa Atoll in Maldives, HoHo de Farouq rescued this turtle from a ghost net. Reuse refuse or recycle..so that it does not end up in our ocean. Just imagine the number of turtles that might not be as lucky as this one :(
