Perth fisherman reels in massive 12ft tiger shark on beach

Buy video

This is the moment an Australian fisherman reeled in a whopping 12-foot-long tiger shark on a beach north of Perth.

In the footage, local man Jack catches the shark, which he calculates would have weighed at more than 400kg.

"I've just seen the tip of its tail," says Jack in the video. "It's huge!"

It took Jack 10 minutes to reel in the shark.

At one point in the video, it even slaps him in the face with its fin. "We got him! Look at the fish! Oh my god! It's a beast" exclaims Jack.

After measuring - "12 foot! 12 foot! That is massive!" says Jack - and tagging, the shark was successfully released back into the water.

"That was the most exciting thing ever," Jack says at the end of the video.

Although tiger sharks are not known for being dangerous, it is reported that they are responsible for a large percentage of fatal shark bite incidents and they are sometimes regarded as one of the most dangerous shark species.
