A prisoner runs bare-footed across the road after escaping from his cell by hacking through the bars with a broken saw blade.

Kitchakorn Rassamee, 28, was remanded in custody after allegedly being caught selling hundreds of meth pills in Suphanburi, Thailand on May 22.

But his girlfriend visited him the next day and admitted she hid two blades from a hacksaw inside a packed lunched and slipped it into his cage.

Horrified cops said they found his empty cell on May 24 at 3.30am - with the iron bars sliced off to make a gap big enough for the suspect to squeeze through.

CCTV footage shows the fugitive making his way out of the police station and scampering away done the street.

Police are now hunting the escapee after his cell mate revealed how the man's girlfriend had smuggled the blades to him by hiding them in a container with rice and grilled meat and he hatched a plan to break free.

Superintendent Nas Pansin from Songpeenong police station said: ''The suspect was a well-known yaba dealer arrested on May 22. They had 458 yaba pills, one unregistered gun and a two bullets.

''His girlfriend came to visit and hid a steel cutting saw underneath a lunch she delivered.

''That night has had been cutting the steel all night and managed to succeed at around 3.30am. His girlfriend is pregnent and worried that he will be in jail for a long time.

''Investigators are now using CCTV to check all of the suspect's possible escape routes.''
