A rally organised by the right-wing Patriot Prayer group descended into violent chaos on June 30 as members confronted protesters staging a demonstration across the street.

The two groups, separated at first by barricades and heavy police presence, eventually clashed, with eggs, firecrackers and bottles thrown on both sides.

This video captures the moment a flash-bang grenade was thrown in the midst of the right-wing group.

Police attempted to disperse the crowd with pepper spray. Four people were arrested and a range of weapons, including clubs, batons and gloves with reinforced knuckles were seized.

Patriot Prayer based out of Vancouver Washington held a rally in Portland Oregon on Saturday June 30, 2018, they stated in a Facebook post they wanted "the stench-covered and liberal-occupied streets of Portland will be CLEANSED. CLEANSED." The Patriot Prayer group is made up of members of the Proud Boys and other alt-right affiliated groups. Since the 2016 election of Donald Trump this group has been holding rallies regularly in Portland that have been met with counter protest. At this rally like many before a number of Antifa (anti-fascist) showed up to #DefendPDX. For over two hours both side Stood off separated by barricades and lines of police in riot gear, both groups shouted insults and threats at each other. When Patriot prayer went into the street they were met with eggs, bottles, and firecracker. The riot cops sent them down the block and get Antifa to go down the other side. This video is what happened when they met only a block away from where the march started. Shortly after the video was taken the permit for the march was revoked and the Portland police declared the situation a riot.
