Thrill seekers at a popular attraction at Thorpe Park were left stuck at the top of the ride for "at least 20 minutes" in 30 degrees Celsius heat this afternoon (July 2).

Video filmed by an eyewitness shows a carriage stuck at the top of a descent on the Tidal Wave water ride at the theme park, which is located in Surrey, south-east England.

In the video, a member of staff can be seen climbing down the ride.

Writes the filmer: "Tidal Wave ride at Thorpe Park breaks down leaving riders stuck at the top in 30-degree heat. They've been up there a good 20 minutes now with a member of staff climbing up then down; 120 minutes queues for the ride."

According to the Thorpe Park website, the attraction is a "wet and wild thrill ride" that plunges riders 85ft into the waters below.
