The death toll in the devastating flooding that hit Japan last week climbed to 180, media reported on July 12.

Heavy downpours ravaged the country's western region, including the prefectures of Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Kyoto, causing widespread flooding and landslides. Over 75,000 responders have been deployed to the affected areas in the aftermath of the natural disaster, which has been called one of the deadliest since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

This video, shared to Instagram on July 8, shows damaged structures on both sides of the road and an overturned car in Hiroshima City.

Thousands of homes were inundated during the storm, forcing evacuations as walls and roofs caved in, and several rivers also broke their banks. Search and rescue operations are still underway while dozens remain missing.
