Media reported on July 13 that the death toll in the floods that hit western Japan last week has climbed to 200.

Heavy downpours ravaged the country's western region, including the prefectures of Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Kyoto, causing widespread flooding and landslides. Over 75,000 responders have been deployed to the affected areas in the aftermath of the natural disaster, which has been called one of the deadliest since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

This video, shared to Twitter on July 10, shows damaged structures, road cracks and dented cars.

Thousands of homes were inundated during the storm, forcing evacuations as walls and roofs caved in, and several rivers also broke their banks. Search and rescue operations are still underway while dozens remain missing.
