A passenger flying from Portland to Santa Rosa, located north of San Francisco, spotted a massive smoke plume from the 100,000-acre Carr fire through her plane window.

The video, filmed July 29 on board an Alaskan Airlines flight, shows a giant mass of smoke among the clouds in the sky.

The Carr fire burning in Northern California's Shasta County has been called the state's seventh most destructive wildfire, having killed six people and destroyed almost 1,000 structures.
