A two and half-year-old boy was rushed to hospital in India after the handle of a three-foot-long ladle became stuck in his throat.

Amit Guru was reportedly playing with the piece of kitchen equipment when the bent handle become lodged in his throat on August 5.

After attempts by his family to remove the utensil were unsuccessful, he was rushed to the hospital in Jharsuguda District.

After being moved to Samaleswari Hospital, Dr Rabindra Pradhan managed to remove the ladle without resorting to surgery.

Footage shows the unconscious boy in hospital with the ladle stuck down his throat.

In a bizarre incident, a two and half-year old boy was left critically injured after the handle of a ladle got stuck in his throat at his home in Jharsuguda district India

The incident took place on late Sunday night when the toddler Amit Guru was playing with ladle by putting it into his mouth. As per reports, the bent handle of the ladle accidentally got stuck in his throat.

Though the family members tried their best, they failed to take it out of the boy’s throat. Amit was first rushed to the District Hospital and later shifted to a Samaleswari hospital where the Doctors Rabindra pradhan Surgeon successfully pulled out the ladle without conducting any operation.

The child is stated to be stable now, & will be shifted to general ward in evening said Dr Rabindra Pradhan
