This is the moment a van smashes into the front of a newly-opened hairdresser's in Essex.

Footage filmed on May 6 in Clacton-on-Sea shows the white van failing to stop as it rounds a corner onto Old Road in the town and ploughs into the shop-front of "The Hairdresser".

The shop had opened its doors for the first time just two days prior.

Emergency services freed the man from the vehicle and following hospital treatment, he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and criminal damage.

The filmer of the dash-cam video writes: "It was a low-speed collision and I saw the vehicle backing up in my rear view mirror, so I assumed the driver was OK. He hadn't driven through the shop window at that point, and there were CCTV cameras in the shops, so I didn't stop."

I was driving to the seafront when I saw a white van turn left from Pier Avenue and drive across the road running up the curb, then striking, and rebounding off the shop window of "The Hairdresser", which apparently only opened for business two days earlier.
