This 19-year-old broke down in tears when his father surprised with his adoption papers as a birthday gift.

In the video, the father can be seen handing his stepson a file. "This is your gift, something you've always been asking for," he says.

"Adults agreement... to be adopted," the son reads out loud slowly.

His father watches him intently. "This is the beginning of the process. Sooner or later, it's going to happen," he says. "Someday, soon, you will officially be a Godoy."

His son, in shock from the news, bursts into tears and gives his father a hug.

The uploader shared with Newsflare that her son had beeen with them since he was a year old. He had always wanted to their last name and felt he wasn't part of the family without it.

"I felt that it was time to make it official and adopt him. Till now I hadn't had the chance to do so, due to the fact that we are struggling financially," she said. "But I know that with the help of God, some day will be official."
