Villagers and people celebrating a Hindu festival in northern India were forced to cross a flooded river using a precarious-looking rope.

Footage captured on September 2 in Sirmaur district shows locals and devotees heading to a festival in a nearby village by shimmying across the rope.

Some use a cart to pull themselves across the raging water.

Villagers say the system is the only way to cross the river as the local government has not constructed a new bridge.

The storm triggered flash floods and landslides across the region, causing extensive damage, traffic disruptions and school closures.

This video, filmed in Sirmaur District In Norther part of India,on 2 Sept shows Devotees & villagers crossing a flooded river by walking on a suspended travels simultaneously with the help of two wires on a crisp hammock and a swing., Where due to administrative negligence, people are forced to travel on a swift wire, in fact, Dev Jagran an Indian festival was being organized in a nearby village, where the Devotees had to resort to this swing to reach the village to perform Rituals as per Hindu Tradition but People have no choice..
Local Villagers say that the hammock has been in a crunch for many years but it is not being bothered to fix it. It is far from the point of making a New bridge over the river.
