The Guangxi New Media Centre, unveiled to the public in the southern city of Nanning on September 24 to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, quickly drew criticism online as netizens discussed the questionable resemblance of it to a penis.

This video shows an aerial view of the colourful building flashing in bright red, blue and green against the night sky.

According to local reports, the building was designed to reflect the historical rice terraces on the outskirts of the city, with the grooves in the architecture built to look like the different levels. Online users disagree, however, with one video in which an amused local animated fireworks sparking from the tip of the structure making its rounds on social media.
