An explosive scene was caught up close on camera at Mt. Ebeko, a volcano in the Kuril Islands, eastern Russia on September 28.

The video footage shows a group of Russian tourists enthusiastically observing the giant cloud of ashes exploding out from the crater. The couple are only a few hundred feet away from the eruption itself, and both are quite happy to be able to watch the powerful explosion.

The filmer's account of her trek on the mountain:
"We travelled around the Pacific Ocean on our yacht and on that day decided to visit Ebeko. We were watching the volcano activity for 2 hours and went down the path leading to the acid lake.

Luckily, we didn't go the end and returned back very soon. If we stayed there even a minute more, we'd be in the epicenter of eruption! We suddenly heard a terrifying sound coming out of the crater and then Ebecco "shot" the huge column of ashes!

Splintered volcanic bombs kept on landing near us! I still can't believe we were that fortunate to leave crater on time and observe such rare nature phenomenon!"
