Eight workers injured in bamboo scaffolding collapse in Indian housing complex

At least eight construction workers were injured after a bamboo scaffolding collapsed in a housing complex collapsed.

The incident happened on Monday on 29 October at Runwal Garden City complex, located in Balkum area of Thane Maharashtra India.

Shortly after, officials from local police, Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) and fire brigade reached the spot.

Footage shows workers fleeing the scene moments after the scaffolding collapsed.

Santosh Kadam, chief of Thane’s RDMC, said eight workers were injured in the scaffolding collapse.

According to local reports, four workers were seriously injured and rushed to Thane Civil Hospital for treatment whilst other three were rushed to a private hospital in the vicinity of the building with minor wounds.

Eyewitnesses put the figure of the injured at 11 and added that at least a dozen workers were on the bamboo scaffolding at the time of the mishap.
