It was a stomach-churning moment after a python was seen regurgitating a goat near Dharampuri in Madhya Pradesh in India.

A villager who went searching for a missing goat spotted the python in the nearby jungle with a bloated stomach and doubted that the python had eaten his goat.

He called a snake charmer who then caught hold of the python and made it regurgitate its consumed meal.

In the video, the snake charmer can be seen forcing the reptile to vomit out the goat as he nudges it in the tail.

Needing to make a speedy escape, it then regurgitated the entire goat out of its mouth.

A lump can be seen on its throat as it squeezes its body and the lumps move up towards its mouth.

Slowly but gradually the goat's paws started to poke out from the predator's jaws before the rest of the partially digested body then followed and popped in the ground.

One of the villagers who saw this said, “This is the first time in my life I have seen such a sight. I knew snakes would eat small animals, but never knew it could swallow a whole goat.”

Snakes are known to expel their food when they are under stress or in the event they need to make a quick escape if they feel threatened. Most snakes normally swallow prey whole - birds, bird's eggs, fish, frogs and lizards - before lying in the sun to slowly digest their meal.

It takes a long time for a snake to digest its food completely, and they can survive for months without a meal while they live off fat stored in their extensive tissues.
