A CCTV footage has captured the moment a tree branch falling on a moving car, leaving its passengers injured on a busy road in Kerala, India.
The video shows traffic moving smoothly on an arterial road in Kottayam town and then suddenly a massive branch of an old and frail tree comes crashing on the road.

Alerted by the sound of breaking of the massive branch, the driver stepped on the brake to stop the vehicle, but the car overturned. Fortunately, the heavier part of the branch fell on the road. While only lighter and leafy parts of it fell on the dashboard and the boot of the car, the roof of the car was not caught in the impact of the crash.

The onlookers who saw the mishap unfold right in front of their eyes initially couldn't believe what they saw. They regained their composure and rushed to the car to rescue its occupants.

After seeing that there are no more tree branches going to fall, the crowd gathers there and rescues out occupants, including the driver, who suffered minor injuries.

They were rushed to the hospital where they were given first aid and released.

The road was blocked for over an hour till the municipal workers came and cleared the debris off the road. The vehicle was later towed away to the side in order to clear the road for the road users.

It is still not known as to how the tree branch fell on the car all of a sudden. According to local residents, it was an old tree that had become hollow from inside. For the past few days, the state has been battered with rain and strong wind that might have been the immediate trigger.
