A man in central London tried to set alight a European Union flag on top of a bus stop during the "Brexit Betrayal" march, only to fail as it was flame-retardant in line with EU regulations.

Video captured from the demonstration on Sunday (December 9) shows the man standing atop a bus shelter lighting the flag successfully, but the flames quickly diminish and further attempts proved fruitless.

The fire-starter then retreats to a seated position on the bus stop, and tried to saturate the flag with lighter fluid to reignite the fire but the fire-resistant flag refused to burn.

At the Brexit betrayal march on Sunday the 9th of December on Whitehall in London, a man stood on top of a bus shelter and attempted to burn the EU flag. Due to EU legislation on flammable items, it would not ignite.
