Pensioner uses angle grinder for 'low budget' New Year fireworks
This inventive pensioner has found the perfect hack to replace New Year fireworks - he makes sparks with an angle grinder.
Vicente Pineda, 66, was filmed holding the cutting equipment against a steel rod to create a 10ft high trail of sparks.
He called the stunt his ''low budget New Year's Eve celebrations'' because he did not have enough money to buy fireworks to use outside his home in Quezon City, the Philippines.
Speaking in the video, he said: ''My firecracker will never run out. But kids please don't do this. I am allowed because I am a professional. Make safety a priority.''
Vicente's friends said they hoped to be better off financially next year and splash out on a display of real fireworks.
But Vicente said: ''I think my method is the most exciting and most economical. I'll do it again next year even if we do have rockets and Catherine wheels.''
