An Adult Elephant has fallen into the canal at Sinhapura in Welikanda rescued after 9 hours operation by the wildlife officials and villagers.The canal is the main source of water for many districts in the region and often elephants falls in to this canal while trying to drink water.On 14th Jan the locals spotted the adult elephant in the canal and informed the rescue team.The wildlife officials pushed the elephant to a corner by bursting crackers and used the indigenous ladder to rescue the elephant.The wildlife officials with the help of villagers rescued the elephant in 9 hours operation.The elephant has been named as ''Netta Kota'' by the villagers.The rescued elephant moved to the Mahaveli reservoir area in Welikanda.
