This randy young ram had eyes bigger than his legs as he was unable to mount the ewe in his enclosure, despite attempting a run-up and jump to get into position.

The funny clip of Pistyll Captain, the ram's, efforts, was filmed by his owner in a field near Roberttown, West Yorkshire, during mating season on October 20, 2018.

Pistyll Captain was born earlier that year and was still only an immature ram, but felt his hormonal urges kick in before his body was big enough to act on them.

This ewe shouldn't have been in this field for obvious reasons. However, the ram was determined to get the job done! (And so he did!)

It is mating season (UK) in October, Males (rams) are put in with suitable females to lamb in the following spring. This young ram (2018 born), has bitten off more than he can chew with this very tall ewe (who shouldn't have been in with him- as obviously she is so tall!). He is obviously keen to be mating with her, and she's keen for him, just a bit irritated as to the length of time it is taking, which is down to the obvious height difference. You can see him weighing up his options, and he decides to reverse quite a considerable length in order to achieve his goal!
