Unique Truck fitted with rail metal wheels for transporting ballast in India.

You have seen the train running on the railway track, but the hopper (big dumpers) is running on the track of Saawood-Khandwa gauge conversion. This unique experiment is used to build fast and convenient ways. There are iron wheels in place of rubber tires. With this help, the ballast is being laid on the track.

Two dumpers are engaged in this work. Between Khandwa and Savadad, a 56 km of main track and nine km bypass track are in progress.
Truck fitted with rail metal wheels for transporting ballast etc . Such trucks are used in many parts of India when new tracks are under construction .They work similar to the usual trucks but have their steering disabled and instead of rubber tyres , these have metal rail wheels.

Shyam Sirasate, who runs the vehicle on the railway track, said that 'hopper' works equal to 100 workers.
