A dramatic video has emerged of a base jumper surviving a horrific crash against a cliff face in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.

The footage, captured from the man’s helmet-mounted camera during a jump earlier this year, shows the moment the his parachute became twisted, causing him to be thrown violently against the rocky surface of the cliff before coming to a rest on the ground.

The base jumper survived the crash but broke his pelvis in three places which meant he had to have surgery, spent three months in a wheelchair and almost nine months in recovery.

Speaking about his accident, he says: “Every mistake is a new lesson. Even if you didn't track well, you have to change the direction of the canopy instead of trying to kick out of the line twist”.
