Rare insect looks like a 'walking leaf' while crawling around on table
A video has emerged of a leaf bug walking on the surface as two men plays with it in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
In the video, the leaf bug known as ‘Phylliidae’ can be seen walking which the men first mistake it as a leaf.
The insect looks exactly like a leaf and it is difficult to make out that it is indeed a bug and not a plant’s leaf.
The particular phenomenon is used by the leaf bug to camouflage itself from any threats.
The men can be seen playing with the insect as they prod it with a leaf. The men are heard saying, ‘Look at it, it is getting angry.’
The insect then sticks itself to the leaf it is being prodded with.
This is a breed of insect which is rare and is found in South East Asia and Australia.
The video was filmed on 10th February 2018 in Ghaziabad.
