A Veiled chameleon from Tallahassee, Florida gave its owner a shock when he shot his tongue onto her cheek on Tuesday (March 12).

Basil the chameleon was adopted by his owner, seen in the video, when a family friend got bored of him.

He came to her dehydrated and underweight but she quickly nursed him back to health.

The filmer commented: "He's a bit of a grump, you can see him trying to intimidate my blue hair before seeing the freckle on my face and thinking it's a yummy snack."

She later added: "This video was filmed on the first day it was warm enough here in Florida to take him outside into the sun!"

This is my "rescued" veiled chameleon, Basil. He's 2 and a half years old, and he's been my friend for over 6 months now. I adopted him from a family friend who decided they were "bored" of taking care of him. He came to me dehydrated and underweight, but now he's happy and healthy!
