Touching moment dog buries a newborn kitten found dead outside his home
This is the touching moment a pet dog buries a dead kitten after finding it dumped outside his house.
Ten-year-old Brownie noticed the lifeless newborn cat abandoned on the pavement in front of his master’s home in Camarines Sur, the Philippines on March 27.
The dark brown Aspin dog picked up the dead kitten in its mouth and carried it to a quiet place on empty land next to the home.
There he was filmed scratching at the dusty ground to dig a hole before dropping the kitten inside.
Brownie’s owner, Pidong Borromeo, said he first noticed what was happening when he saw the kitten in Brownie’s mouth.
He said: ''The dead kitten was alone, we didn’t hear the cries of any other kittens nearby.
''She could have been deliberately dumped in front of our house by the owner, who expected it to just be swept away with the rubbish.
''Brownie knew that the kitten was dead and picked her up in his mouth. He took her to a quiet place.
''I am sure that he could sense what had happened and had an instinct about what to do.
''He cared more about the poor kitten than the human who had thrown it out.''
Brownie used to be a stray dog until he was taken in last year by Pidong and his family.
Pidong added: ''We started giving Brownie food and water so he kept coming back to our house, until he started sleeping in front of our gates. We took him in a few months ago.''
