Shootout in Washington Heights leaves police officer injured and suspect reported dead

A shootout in Washington Heights, Manhattan New York City on April 18 saw police rush into a car park after reports came in of a wild gunman firing shots.

There are reports of one policeman leaping forward into a commando roll in an attempt to apprehend the suspect. The policeman was shot in the arm and was taken to St Luke’s hospital but is believed to be OK.

The suspect did suffer a gunshot wounds and EMT personnel rush to put him on a stretcher and administer CPR. The suspect is reported to have died.

Footage is shot in the tower block right above where the incident takes place. It shows a huge amount of police rushing in to support three plain clothes officers moving in towards the suspects who are hiding behind cars.

Footage later shows a suspect being put on a stretcher and receiving CPR.
