As a record-busting heat hits Easter Bank Holiday Monday in the UK hundreds of sunseekers flood Blackpool's pleasure beach.

England reached its highest Easter Bank Holiday Monday temperature at 25C (77F) recorded in Heathrow, Northolt and Wisley.

All across the UK temperatures skyrocketed with Kinlochewe in the Highlands reaching 24.2C (75.6F), Cardiff touching 23.6C (74.4F) and in Armagh temperatures soaring to 21.4C (70.5F).

For other nations in the British Isles, Easter Sunday was the hottest one on record with Helen's Bay in Northern Ireland reached 21C (69.8F) and in Edinburgh and Cardiff temperatures rose to 23.4C (74.1F).

Footage shows people in their swimming suits playing football on Blackpool's beach, sunbathing, wading in the sea and doing some recreational painting.

Children enjoy horse rides on the beach and the sun blazes in the sky in images reminiscent of those seen at the height of summer.
