A cheeky drug dealer allegedly caught selling meth asked police to call his customers to let them know he could not make it.

Chatchapong Kaewracha, 35, sparked a chase after jumping a police checkpoint while not wearing a helmet in Chonburi, eastern Thailand, on June 21.

The officers followed him as they thought he looked suspicious. They pulled him over to search his body and his motorcycle then found a bag of methamphetamine in his pocket.

The suspect was taken to Na Jomtien Police Station, where he finally confessed that the drugs belonged to him and he was on the way to ''share'' it with his young ''friends'' in the nearby city of Pattaya.

According to local media, Chatchapong then gave officers his phone and asked them to call his pals to let them know he was going to be late.

Chatchapong said: “I bought it for 10,000 baht (250 GBP) from a seller in Sattahip district. I didn’t see his face because we only contacted by phone.

''I usually share it with some of my friends in a hotel room. But sometimes, they brought some more people too.''

Chatchapong is reported to have asked the police to contact the customers who were stored in his phone contacts.

He allegedly wanted police to tell them he had been arrested and apologise that he would not be able to meet them that day.

Initially, Chatchapong was charged for drug possession and is now under the custody of the Pattaya police station. Officers said more charges will proceed if his urine drug test result is positive and if it can be proved that he was supplying them.

A police spokesman said: ‘’We’re investigating and trying to reach the person who supplied the drugs to him.

‘’We know where he was going and who he was visiting, but we will continue interrogating him until the full case is clear.’’
