The British town of Whaley Bridge is currently at risk of being submerged under 300million gallons of river water this morning.

Up to 6,000 people have been evacuated from amid fears that Toddbrook Reservoir could collapse.

Footage shows the area looking like a "ghost town" after residents fled their homes as rescue workers faced a race against time to save the rain-savaged dam.

Engineers at the scene are "very concerned" the structure may not hold up after part of the reservoir wall collapsed on Thursday.
