Drivers queue at gas station to panic buy fuel as Hurricane Dorian nears Florida

Long queues of cars at a gas station in Naples, Florida, on August 29, as locals prepared for the approaching Hurricane Dorian.

Hundreds of vehicles were stretching back down the highway as they tried to stock up on fuel, panic buying in anticipation of the torrential weather causing devastation.

Officials are bracing themselves today August 31 for the effect of the hurricane. Some 28,000 linemen, tree crews and support personnel have readied themselves around Florida to help quickly restore power.

While backup generators are being prepared to avoid power cuts and black outs. More than 30 school districts have announced closures Tuesday.

The footages outside the gas station was filmed as the U.S. National Hurricane Center warned that Dorian had hit the US Virgin Islands and was expected to strengthen into a dangerous Category 3 hurricane before reaching Florida.
