A video has emerged of school students endangering their lives by clinging on to a school bus as it raced through streets in northern India.

The video, which surfaced on Sept. 13, was shot in Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh state.

Visual showed a swarm of students holding on to the bus, hanging precariously as the vehicle raced through the town road.

Reports said this is an everyday occurrence that the students indulge in, without knowing the risks involved.

Meanwhile, ever since the video emerged, it has drawn sharp criticism from many netizens.

It has also forced the state police to confiscate the vehicle and file an FIR against the owner and the driver.

The video comes days after the Indian government passed the Motor Vehicle Act, hiking driving penalties.
