'It's just plain rude that nobody told me!' UK teen left shocked by the flipped selfie filter making TikTok users obsess over their mirror image
British TikTok user Ruby Blackman's hilarious clip has gone viral, viewed over 2.7 million times on Twitter and liked over 200,000 on TikTok, the video-sharing platform favoured by Generation Z.
In the short video, set to sad music, Blackman 'flips' her face, showing the image that is visible on the iPhone camera selfie mode.
Blackman told Newsflare she was left “mortified” after a filter revealed that others see her the opposite of how she sees herself.
"I just found out something mortifying; that every single person that sees me every day sees this," the 16-year-old said in her video.
The video's revelation seems to have resonated with fellow teenage social media users. The flipped selfie filter has become a popular digital trend as hundreds attempt to replicate Blackman's clip.
"I just tried it. I'm not going to school tomorrow," one person commented.
"I actually felt so self-conscious when I used this filter until I read the comments and know I'm not alone," another wrote.
