Footage shows flooding caused by tropical storm Fung-wong and typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines on Thursday (November 21).

The storms dumped a huge amount of rain over the country, which has resulted in severe flooding.

Typhoon Kalmaegi brought heavy rain and flooding earlier in the week which was followed by downpours from storm Sarah, which was upgraded and given the international name tropical storm Fung-wong.

Footage from the Simpatuyo Elementary School in Cagayan shows house, farmlands and barns submerged in overflowing river rapids.

Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall on Wednesday (November 20) in Cagayan while tropical storm Fung-wong continues to batter the northern Luzon area after entering the country on the same day.

Kalmaegi has displaced 2,678 families in 18 towns of Cagayan.

Rogelio Sending Jr., Cagayan acting provincial information officer, said that 7,000 people remained in evacuation centers.

With Tropical Storm Fung-wong, evacuees are expected to stay longer in shelters.

Ramon, or Kalmaegi, was downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression on Wednesday but Sarah intensified from a tropical depression into a tropical storm.
