A huge stingray fish weighing about 300-kilograms was caught alive by fishermen in Kandal River.

A group of local fishermen had set up fishing nets at Kundimuha Bridge near Niali in Odisha's Cuttack district and were surprised to discover their massive catch on Friday morning (December 13).

The filmer told Newsflare: "The 13-feet-long and 7-feet-wide stingray was identified as the locally named ‘Sankucha.'

"Locals were left astounded with the rare catch when the fishermen put it on display and a big crowd collected around it."

On being informed, forest department officials rescued and released the fish back into the river.

A group of local fishermen had set up fishing nets at Kundimuha Bridge near Niali in Odisha's Cuttack district. They were surprised to see the massive catch — a giant stingray fish — in their net at 8 am on Friday.



Later, the fishermen identified the fish to be a Stingray locally called ‘Sankucha’ and immediately fished it out. The fish was 13-feet-long and 7-feet-wide, sources said.

Locals were left astounded with the rare catch when the fishermen put it on display and a big crowd collected around it.

On being informed, forest department officials reached the spot and rescued the fish. They later released the giant fish into the river.
