The River Taff in South Wales burst its banks today (February 16th) inundating streets in the village of Treforest, near Pontypridd.

Footage filmed at around 6 am local time showed the river swamping aa bridge and water flowing into the town.

"Around 6 am we woke up to sirens and went out to have a look and the river had burst its bank," said the filmer, who gave her name only as Jessica.

"We live on the opposite side of the river and are very nervous. I feel so concerned for the residents opposite us," she added.

We first came out of the house to have a look at the river around 11pm as the river was very loud. The river was almost to the top of the wall and we were cautious to walk across the bridge as a large log was stuck on the side. I spoke to a resident on the opposite side of the river who didn’t think that the river was likely to flood. Around 6:00am we woke up to sirens and went out to have a look and the river had burst it’s bank. We live on the opposite side of the river and are very nervous. I feel so concerned for the residents opposite us.
