UK shoppers drop toilet rolls in rush to grab them during coronavirus pandemic
Shoppers in London hurried to grab extra-large multipacks of toilet roll just minutes after this branch of Tesco in Woolwich opened on Tuesday (March 17).
In this footage, toilet rolls can be seen falling to the floor during the dash. An employee reassured a shopper, "we're never going to run out of toilet roll". Some customers can be seen with two "XXL" multipacks - 64 rolls total - in their trolleys.
The frenzy came one day after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged Brits to avoid all non-essential social contact to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
