The "world's first" hotel to be covered in gold, from the sinks to the rooftop pool, has opened in Vietnam.

The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake hotel in Hanoi has been crowned the world's first gold-plated hotel with 25 floors and opened on July 2 after 11 years of construction.

The hotel-apartment complex has around 5,000 square metres of gilded ceramic on the outside and costs £250 a night.

A price tag of $6,500 per square-metre was recently announced for units at the Golden Lake apartment project near Giang Vo Lake, one of the capital’s prime locations.

The Golden Lake View in Hanoi, VietNam has everything covered in gold. From interior to exterior, from plates to sanitary accessories and other high tech amenities, from the lobby to the rooftop infinity pool. Elevators and ceilings in high-class apartment halls are also gilded.

Gold-coated parts include door handles, vases, faucets, hinges, cups, glasses of water, cabinets, power sockets, night lights, spoons, chopsticks, kitchen utensils. The bathroom is coated with gold from lavabo, toilet, shower, mirror, faucet.

In particular, the infinity pool on the top floor is fully plated with gold.
