Amidst remembrance of Tienanmen massacre, the theme of "independence" becomes more present in the voices of Hongkongers
As the Hongkongers came out massively in Victoria park to carry out a vigil remembering the Tienanmen massacre of 1989, the tone for the protesters was clearly not on recognizing themselves as part of China. While many protesters held candles and images of the 1989 repression, a lot of them held also flags demanding "Hong Kong Independence" and sang "Glory to Hong Kong".
