Hunger is spreading through El Salvador despite the government's efforts to bring food aid during COVID-19 pandemic.

Footage filmed on June 11 shows several San Salvador residents begging passing motorists for food.

After two months of restricted quarantine in El Salvador, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, hunger began to manifest itself in many streets of the country. Low-income people ask for financial help or food from motorists who circulate through one of the main arteries of the capital city, San Salvador, the Juan Pablo II Mall, which in recent days has experienced an increase in vehicle traffic, after the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) declared unconstitutional executive decree 29 with which the Executive seeks to currently govern the mandatory household quarantine and sends the Executive and Legislative powers to seek consensus on a new regulation that does not violate constitutional rights. Meanwhile, scenes of families begging for food are repeated in many parts of the country, despite current government efforts to bring food aid to all departments in the country.
